At bc dental we recognise that teamwork is essential in providing our patients with the best dental treatment possible. We are all passionate about our dentistry, and with varying specialties, work together to offer a comprehensive dental service.
Our staff all undertake extensive training in order to provide the highest quality care in all aspects of dentistry. By keeping abreast with the latest technology and participating in continuing education, we are able to provide patients with the best treatment in modern dentistry.
Our team is dedicated to ensuring our services are always of an excellent standard. We strive to create a warm, friendly and comfortable environment for our patients to ensure all uncertainties are put to rest and your visit to the dentist is a pleasant experience.
Dr Valence Roberts
PRINCIPAL DENTIST (BDS) HONS, MELB
Growing up in Beaumaris, Valence always thought he would follow his father’s footsteps into the dental world. One of the top students of his year, he graduated with first class honours in 2004 at the University of Melbourne. One of few students to have work published, he was offered several scholarships throughout his studies.
Val spent two years working at Prime dental practice in Noosa, honing his skills (including surfing). He returned to Beaumaris in 2006, when he joined his father, Dr Carlo Roberts, who has provided quality dental service to the Bayside area for over 40 years. Val has now settled in Beaumaris with his young family, and is determined to do the same.
Enthusiastic about all aspects of dentistry, Val has dedicated his career to enhancing people’s lives both functionally and aesthetically through continuing education and training at the highest level. This includes participation in dental community health and volunteer programs both locally and internationally.

Dr Jordan Kolsky
(BDS) LATROBE HONS, PGCERT(DEN) KINGS COLLEGE
Dr. Jordan Kolsky is a graduate of La Trobe University, having completed a Master’s degree in Dentistry across regional Victoria. He has spent the last 10 years working in private practice across Darwin and Melbourne.
Heavily involved in an array of voluntary positions in the dental industry, Jordan served as: both a Councillor and Executive Treasurer for the ADA NT and NT Ambassador for the Recent Graduates Advisory Panel. He also continues to volunteer with the Timor Leste Dental Program, providing free dental services to remote villages across the country.
Jordan is extremely passionate about ongoing education, having travelled the world to seek out industry leaders as teachers. A self-professed dental nerd, he received commendations in all exams when joining the Royal College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Studies (aesthetics) with King’s College London – and is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Clear Aligners.
Jordan’s areas of special interest are in treating worn dentitions, aesthetics and minimally invasive dentistry. He has a reputation as a strong communicator and empath amongst his patients.
With many interests falling outside of dentistry, Jordan can be found: practicing Vipassana meditation, painting, playing acoustic guitar, advocating animal welfare and most importantly – being a very patient Carlton supporter.
Dr Johnny Chen
(BDS) JAMES COOK UNI, PGDIP (Oral Implantology)
Meet Dr Johnny Chen, a caring dentist with a knack for easing anxious patients’ fears. Graduating top of his class from James Cook University with three awards, he holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and is a proud member of the ADA.
Johnny has also undergone training in maxillo-facial surgery at Kyoto University. He’s particularly passionate about endodontics and oral surgery, constantly challenging himself to expand his expertise.
Practicing all over Australia in a wide variety of areas, he’s spent time in the Northern Territory, managing complex cases in remote rural communities.
Johnny enjoys building relationships with his patients, especially those who are nervous about dental visits. He believes in working together with his patients to ensure a positive clinical outcome and a stress-free experience.
With his compassionate nature and commitment to excellence, he’s an invaluable addition to our team.
Dr Jessica Atalla
(BDS) HONS, UQLD
Born and raised in Melbourne, Dr Jessica Atalla moved to Brisbane to pursue her dental degree at the University of Queensland, where she graduated with Honours in 2019. After completing her studies, she returned home to Melbourne to begin her career in private practice, where she has since built a reputation for her gentle approach, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to patient wellbeing.
Jessica is passionate about providing exceptional dentistry grounded in empathy and clear communication. She believes that every patient deserves to feel informed, understood, and empowered when it comes to their oral health. Having personally undergone a variety of dental treatments, she deeply understands the apprehension many people experience in the dental chair. This insight shapes her approach – she takes the time to listen, explain, and ensure her patients feel comfortable, supported, and at ease throughout their visit.
With a keen interest in comprehensive and aesthetic dentistry, Jessica is committed to staying up to date with the latest techniques and technologies to deliver high quality, long lasting results that blend function with natural aesthetics.
Outside the clinic, Jessica enjoys making the most of Melbourne’s food scene and can often be found out to dinner with friends, practising Pilates, or unwinding with a good true crime documentary or podcast.
Dr Julijana Vuchkova
(BDS)UQLD HONS, GDIP CLIN DENT. (Aesthetic)
With more than 15 years of clinical experience, Dr Julijana Vuchkova combines a wealth of knowledge with a warm, patient-centred approach to care.
Julijana holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) and a PhD from Monash University, before completing her Bachelor of Dental Science (First Class Honours) at The University of Queensland in 2009. During her dental studies, she was awarded the prestigious Pierre Fauchard Academy Award and later served as an Assistant Lecturer at The University of Queensland School of Dentistry.
Passionate about continual learning, Julijana recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Aesthetic and Advanced Restorative Dentistry) through the Australasian College of Dental Practitioners. She has a particular interest in aesthetic and complex restorative dentistry, combining scientific rigour with an eye for detail to create healthy, natural-looking smiles.
Julijana’s background in research underpins her commitment to evidence-based dentistry and staying at the forefront of modern techniques and technology, ensuring her patients receive the highest standard of care.
Dr Hisham
(BDS) OTAGO
Dr Hisham has decided to pursure a new adventure away from bcdental. As of August 2026 he will no longer look be looking after general dental cases at bcdental.
Dr Hisham will continue to care for his existing orthodontic patients at bcdental until their treatment is completed, ensuring continuity of care throughout their orthodontic journey.
To support a smooth transition, Dr Hisham has been working closely with the bcdental team to ensure his patients continue to receive the high standard of care they have come to expect.

PRINCIPAL DENTIST BDS (RAND)
Retired but always with us
Carlo graduated from Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa, 1975. With his friendly and open approach, Carlo found he was having a lot of nervous patients referred to his practice. Seeing the need to help make visiting the dentist a positive experience, he specialised in treating nervous patients. Continuing his studies, he moved to London where he opened another practice designed for treating anxious patients, and to teach his methods to other dentists.
In 1981 Carlo moved again, this time to 7 North Concourse Beaumaris, along with his wife and four children. A passionate learner, Carlo has always educated himself in the latest advances in dentistry and was one of the first dentists in Australia to have digital x-rays and use computer-aided design to provide single-visit Cerec crowns.
With decades of experience and a light-hearted approach, Carlo makes visiting the dentist a great and reassuring experience.

Dr Sarah Braun
(BSc) DDS MELB
Dr Sarah Braun is a Bayside local who now lives in Bendigo, Victoria, with her family. Sarah remains a valued part of the bcdental family and occasionally returns to the practice to support our team and care for patients while our dentists are on leave.
Sarah grew up in the Bayside area and completed both her Bachelor of Science (2013) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (2017) at the University of Melbourne.
Sarah is passionate about changing the way people think about visiting the dentist. Her approach is centred around making every appointment informative, honest and, wherever possible, enjoyable. She particularly enjoys working with children of all abilities, as well as patients who may feel nervous or anxious about dental treatment.
She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a particular interest in improving both the function and aesthetics of her patients’ smiles. Sarah is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertakes advanced education to keep her knowledge and clinical skills current.

Emma Walton
DENTAL HYGIENIST ADV DIP DENTAL HYG SA
It was in her job as a dental assistant, working one-on-one with dental hygienists, that Emma realised Dental Hygiene was her passion. The young Emma Reid studied Dental Hygiene at Gilles Plains TAFE in South Australia graduating in 2010 where she also met her now husband.
The pair decided to relocate to Melbourne in 2011. Emma and Luke married at Werribee Mansion in 2014 (now Emma Walton) and are settled in Seaford raising their beautiful son Harvey and enjoying the Bayside lifestyle.
After more than a decade in the dental industry Emma continues to grow her passion with a particular interest in helping patients overcome fears and feeling comfortable. ‘There’s nothing more rewarding than having a patient look forward to seeing me’ says Emma.
Emma enjoys travelling, and with a young family is looking forward to more Australian road trips. If you have any suggestions for great family friendly destinations, be sure to share them with Emma at your next visit!

Deborah Kennison is a gentle and experienced dental hygienist, well known for her warm, calming presence that helps patients feel at ease—especially those who may be anxious about dental visits.
With a strong focus on preventive care, Deborah delivers thorough hygiene treatments and personalised oral health advice to support long-term dental wellbeing. She works closely with the bc dental team to ensure each patient receives tailored, comprehensive care. Deborah’s friendly nature, attention to detail, and professional approach have earned her the trust of patients of all ages.
She takes pride in building strong relationships and helping people feel confident about their oral health. Whether you’re due for a routine clean or need support with your oral hygiene habits, Deborah is here to help you achieve a healthier, brighter smile.
Gabriel Brazil

Gabriel Brazil is a qualified Oral Health Therapist at bc dental, holding a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Melbourne. His calm, friendly nature—and great sense of humour—make him especially popular with kids, who actually enjoy coming in for their dental visits.
Gabriel provides comprehensive preventive care, hygiene treatments, and restorative work for children and teens. He’s passionate about helping young patients build confidence and healthy habits that last a lifetime. His approachable style, combined with clear, age-appropriate communication, ensures each visit is both positive and educational.
Working closely with the bc dental team, Gabriel is committed to high-quality, patient-centric care. Whether it’s your child’s first dental visit or a routine check-up, he creates a supportive environment that puts everyone at ease.

Erin Park
ORAL HEALTH THERAPIST
Erin Park is an Oral Health Therapist who loves helping people feel comfortable and confident about their smiles. After moving from Brisbane to study at the University of Melbourne, she started her career travelling to primary schools in dental vans—an experience that sparked her love for working with kids.
With a warm, easygoing nature, Erin has a knack for making dental visits feel relaxed and even fun. She enjoys getting to know her patients, having a good chat (and a laugh!), and helping them build healthy habits that last.
She’s passionate about preventive care and works closely with patients of all ages to keep their smiles in great shape.
Outside the clinic, Erin enjoys exploring new cafes, spending time outdoors with friends, and has a creative side too—she holds a Diploma in Music and used to play the violin.
Her top tip? Don’t forget to floss—it’s just as important as brushing!
Katrina Tran-Curie (July 2026 update)

In June 2026, Katrina made the decision to step away from bcdental to focus on family.
Over her many years with us, Katrina has been much more than a valued clinician. Through her expertise, kindness, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to patient care, she has helped shape the culture of our practice and built lasting relationships with patients and team members alike.
We will miss her greatly and thank her for the many years of dedication, support, laughter, and friendship she has shared with the bcdental family. We wish Katrina every happiness in this next chapter and hope to welcome her back to the team in the future.
Christine Ciar (august 2026 update)
ORAL THERAPIST BA OHT NSW
As of August 2026, Christine will be stepping away from her role at bcdental to embark on an exciting adventure with husband Dr Hisham.
Christine has been a valued member of our team, known for her dedication to patient care, professionalism, and the genuine connections she has built with patients and colleagues over the years. We are incredibly grateful for her contribution to bcdental and the positive impact she has had on our practice.
While Christine will no longer be practising at bcdental on a regular basis, patients may still see her from time to time as she assists the team by providing clinical cover during periods of staff leave and professional training.
We wish Christine and Hisham every success in their new venture and look forward to maintaining our connection in the years ahead.

Pia Davies, with nearly 20 years of clinical experience at bcdental, offers unparalleled knowledge of our patients and local community. Her deep expertise in dentistry, combined with her excellence in compliance and regulatory matters, makes her an invaluable asset to the management team. We are fortunate to benefit from her insights and dedication.
Pearl Rahme, who joined bcdental in 2020, brings extensive experience in human resource management, organizational psychology, and recruitment. Working part-time, Pearl plays a pivotal role in developing robust processes, fostering a culture of feedback, and driving our philosophy of continuous improvement as we strive for excellence.
Caron Dixon has been part of bcdental since 2014. With a background in science, medical research, and leadership roles at GE Healthcare, Caron combines her healthcare knowledge with a passion for patient care. Holding degrees in Arts, Science, and Biotechnology from the University of Melbourne, she is committed to ensuring that bcdental remains at the forefront where leading technology meets exceptional patient care.
